Cooperative breeding and cognition
In late 2019, I will be joining Prof. Masanori Kohda’s lab as a postdoctoral researcher in the Department of Biology at Osaka City University in Japan.
We will be investigating associations between cooperative breeding and cognition in Tanganyikan cichlids, in both the lab and in the wild.
Life-history evolution in Killifishes
Here, I investigated associations between environment, behaviour, physiology, secondary sexual traits and life-history strategies in annual and non-annual killifish (Aplocheilidae).
Behavioural and morphological variation in Neotropical cichlid fishes
I looked into how behavioural and phenotypic variation is generated and maintained in Neotropical cichlids. Broadly, I found significant variation in the phenotypic response of cichlid individuals when introduced to a novel environment, clear behavioural and morphological variation between distinct colour morphs, and significant sex differences in the level and timing of parental investment.

I completed my undergraduate (BSc Hons) at Monash University. For my Honours thesis I investigated the impact that introduced salmonids have on patterns of preferred habitat selection in native galaxiids. I was supervised by Bob Wong and Ross Thompson.
